VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam beaches, which have been the most favored traveler spots, are turning grimy with the release of drain water and plastic waste into the ocean. While the town is growing as a main visitor hub, Rushikonda, Bheemili, Jodugulapalem, Sea Pearl and Peda Jalaripeta beaches are some of the exceptional spots for water sports activities, specially browsing. However, drain water, and plastic waste is flowing into the sea, developing a repulsive ambiance for water sports activities.

In a previous couple of years, Vizag seashores have turn out to be browsing spots for tourists and locals. “Many folks do not know that Peda Jalaripeta Beach area is one of the best spots for browsing. Tourists and commoners bask in surfing. “I have been surfing for the past eleven years, and Peda Jalaripeta Beach is as soon as the excellent places for the water sport in Vizag. Back in 2003, there have been additionally a boatyard in Peda Jalaripeta, and we had the longest surfing rides. But, the discharge of drain water and plastic waste into the sea has grown to become the vicinity from bad to worse, and we stopped browsing in that region,” stated Rakesh Perla, a Vizagite and a surfer from Dolphin Yachting Association.

With round 20-30 surfers who enjoy rides within the Vizag beach, there are numerous tourists who, nowadays, are keen on indulging in surfing. While Vizag has lots of capability for browsing, environmental troubles are diminishing the potential for water sports activities. “Nobody wants to surf within the sea blended with drain water. Now, most of the browsing spots have lost their beauty, and while surfing within the Rushikonda Beach, we see plastic bags and all styles of waste caught to browsing boats. But, when the waves are good to surf, we ignore the waste and later take a bathtub with antiseptic liquid, so that we don’t fall unwell,” said Rakesh.

Monsoon season being the prime time for the surfers to experience the best rides, local surfers who take pleasure in browsing in other countries too say that it is only in India we don’t have a proper mechanism for segregation of waste. “If single-use plastic isn’t banned inside the town and seashores are polluted with waste, the town will lose its functionality to make surfing the little recreation. The officers have to make extreme efforts to stop releasing drain water into the sea,” said a tourist who surfs at Rushikonda.
